SUMMARY:
The Data Engineer (DE) will have a wonderful and unmatched opportunity to gain expertise in Cannabis Data Analytics and Engineering as member of the largest cannabis data operation in the world. She or he will grow her/his data engineering and technical skills and further her/himself as a Data and IT professional.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The DE is eager to learn new technologies, has a can-do attitude, and wants to broaden his/her skillset in Information Technology and Data Analytics to include cannabis agriculture. This is primarily an Information Technology role that will focus on systems and platform administration in addition to advanced data engineering.
- The DE has a SQL and software programming background.
- The DE is a member of Metrc's Data and Analytics Organization, reports into the Vice President of Data and Analytics who reports to the Vice President of Product.
- The Metrc Data and Analytics group's mission is to make Metrc data more understandable, accessible, and valuable to customers and internal business partners. The primary focus is creating commercial products that enhance Metrc user experience with analysis, insights, reports, and overall data accessibility for external customers.
- The DE both desires to and is able to independently seek out answers without guidance but has the comfort of knowing that Subject Matter Experts are close by to help when needed.
- The DE will seek out new technologies. processes, and best practices, to optimize the Metrc Data Operation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
7+ years expert level of experience with SQL and database querying tools. Programmatic SQL experience is favorable.
5-10 years experience working with MS Azure SQL/SQL Server and Snowflake database management systems.
Experience working with off premise data cloud provider (Ex: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
5-10 experience working with ETL tools is required (ex: Alteryx, Tibco, Tray.Io, Workado, MuleSoft, Metallion, FiveTran), experience with native cloud provider tolls like AWS Glue, and/or MS Azure Data Factory is desired.
Experience working in a data organization that creates actionable insights for both internal and external partners, and customers.
Bachelor's degree is favored but not required if the candidate has deep technical experience
Reporting tool report development experience (ex: Tableau, Power BI, Domo, Looker, etc.) is not required but favorable.
- AI and Machine Learning experience a plus, basic understanding required
Basic understanding of client service: this position exists to help others; business support functions support a commercial business.
